I have seen planty of japanese sites out there that sell really cool looking keyboards for the powerbook 2400. I'm jealous. I hate bronze, especially since the outside of my machine is now silver. I would love to be able to replace the keyboard with something silver or grey-ish. I would then cover the trackpad in the same vinyl sheeting that I used on the exterior of the case and everything would be dandy (except for that slightly bronze-ish trackpad, but I would be able to deal.) Does anyone know anything about keyboards for pismos? Is it possible to make a new keyboard ? (Probably not, but what the hell.) Thanks.

Do I get blown to smithereens for suggesting that you get your hands on an iBook keyboard and replace the PowerBook keyboard with that? My reseller did that with his PB and a iBook he had in his store. The PB looked magnificent...couldn't say the same for the iBook

I can't put the keys from a 2400 keyboard on a pismo because the keys on the 2400 are smaller. I guess I have to find an iBook keyboard. Anyone want to trade? I have a perfectly functioning pismo keyboard and I would love to get my hands on anything different. If you can swap the power buttons I'd like to do that as well. I'm a little dissappointed however. I would really prefer something more greyish, to match my silver outside.

Well I have just emailed my Apple Dealer and asked them how much a replacement iBook keyboard would be, (I told them I had lost some keys, naughty boy!)

I will let you know how much it is, im thinking that if I sprayed the inside of the keys silver it would look really good with my silver case!
What are you looking for? A signature?

umm I don't think AASP can order parts for Ibooks. I work for one and know they don't do the service work there, but send it to a service center.

I spraypainted the keyboard. It's a "big-balls" move to say the least. you have to be a touch typist, or at least pretty damn comfortable with what's what. I used chrome so it was shiny and I took my time, sprayed lightly and gave it lots of coats. I recommend at least 5 full drying cycles. (I know I shouldn't have to say it but: take the keys off the board first.) You will get instantly high levels of respect from anyone who sees it. Guaranteed.

trade in your old keyboard for 60 % at www.pbparts.com and buy an ibook keyboard (out of stock right now)

They have screen hinges as well.

thats what I did.

Did you paint your keyboard or just put an iBook keyboard on?
