What is the "analog board" and what is the "logic board"?
I was looking at a iMac parts list on a web site of a company in California, and they listed these items seperately, and I wondered what each of them where. I thought that the analog board was the main board with the ports on it, and the logic board was the card that had the processor on it.

This used to be a common question with the first generation iMacs.

The analog board carries the power supply etc, the HT and Coil drivers for the tube (CRT) etc. good old fashioned analog stuff!

The logic board is the motherboard including any processor daughtercard etc.

Generally spare parts places list three parts:

Power Supply
Analog Board
Logic Board

An example is the one where you iMac screen gets the wobbles worse and worse until it finally falls over completely - in that situation Apple would replace the analog board.

So Feathers, do you know if the analog and power suppy are the same for all iMacs (generation wise, that is.) ? So for example, could a person take from a rev b iMac the crt, analog board and power supply and drop them into a summer 2000 iMac case, with the summer 2000 logic board? or have the forms of these parts changed to accomodate the slot loading fanless cases?
