Since it takes 5V input, it's possible to use power from ethernet as well
Thanks to a flickr member that send me the tips, but yet to try that.

That's really awesome. We need more hacks like this

I didn't know they worked at 3V internally. Is this Airport Express eligible for the wireless extension feature in:
AirPort Utility 5.1 Help: Extending the range of an 802.11n network
Also, how many milliamps does the AE draw?

I know you would figure this out yourself: PoE uses 48VDC.

Hi there, mine was the older b/g version. I'm unsure if this is the same as bridge mode. The pre-801n utility doesn't name it as "extend network range" if I'm not mistaken. But I really doesn't spend much time configuring it. As my main white UFO base station are strong enough to cover my whole house even if it's at 25% power.

Oh yeah, PoE can't be use 40+V is too much. But I can still use the non-powered ethernet and wire my 5V in over the unuse pins. Then I can have a neater hack. But will only try so if I get another unit of power-failed Express.
