I have read at thinksecret.com that "Warcraft" does not work in 10.2. Is this true? I have allso read the user "reviews" on versiontracker.com about war3 and some people said that warcraft III is un playable in 10.2, but I have read here that it works and even better in Jaguar. WTF does anyone have any REAL proof that warcraft III works in jaguar? Blizzard?

WC3 plays just the same under 10.2 as it did on 10.1.x. All the people claiming it is faster are kidding themselves. I have tested the game under the new Tibooks(667 and 800), Dual 1 gig G4's, top of the line iMac, and Dual 533 G4. All have the same choppy game play. The game played better under MacOS 9 in all cases.

Er, Warcraft III seems to run much better in 10.2 than 10.1.5 for me on my TiBook 667/Rev B. Not quite as fast as 9, but to the point where e I can now play it without rebooting.

I dunno about Warcraft III playing better under 10.2 (I haven't noticed any difference) but I know Max Payne is unplayable because the keyboard input in broken.

Kinda makes me wonder what kind of methods Westlake is using that makes games break so easily.

Although it may run at the same speed in 10.2 as it does in 10.1.5, I have some more info on that. I have had the longest discussion with Blizzard Mac support because my G4 733 with Gforce2mx, 768 MB RAM plays War3 very bad in OSX, but good in OS9. We didn't come up with any solution, we just noticed that my cpu and gpu firmware were older than their, but there is no update available.. I said I would wait until 10.2 and see if the problem went away and they replied:

"Thanks for your patience Max. We are looking into performance tweaks as well, since there are a lot of new features available to us in Mac OS X 10.2"

I just finished Max Payne (Start to finish) in OS X 10.2...

So the keyboard input does work... (Although I sometimes get what you describe quiting the game and restarting touching no keys and it works fin. mess about and you will get it working.)

I was more concerned about the crashes where the sound dissapears the soon after the game crashes. (Although this only happens ever once in a while.)

Cheers Edwin

Well so far 2 out of 3 users have encountered keyboard problems. There's definately something wrong.

Then they'll release a patch. 10.2 isn't even released as retail yet, so don't get your knickers in a knot over this one. At least, not yet.

For my Power Mac G4 DP450 with a Radeon, WC3 runs significantly better.
For my iMac G4/700 with a GF2MX, it's the same.

My conclusion, after my results and the posts in this thread?
ATI card = noticable improvement.
nVidia card = no noticable improvement.
Be happy.

i had it freeze twice on me yesterday, took down the whole system. (i'm talking about WC3). I was playing a two player game over a LAN. one freeze was during starting up the game, the other was in the middle of a game, pretty annoying. it ran fine prior to jag.

My Cube 450 with std "choppy" ATI graphics actually run smoother (though clearly not as well as a GeForce4 Ti or Radeon 9500). But I'll take anything I can get.

17" iMac 650 RAM...
this sucka is smooth as butta, for some reason at startup it was a litle slow (begining of the game) but now, during huge battles, very nice to look at
