Despite having a reliable Earthlink 650Kbs DSL line, and a computer exceeding the specs on the box, I keep getting disconnected from WC3 games on Battlenet. Running OS X 10.1.5 on a G4 400 PCI with GB RAM and 32 MB Radeon card. Geting pretty frustrated with this... Any ideas?

Just an Alcatel DSL modem to 10BT hub to Mac. What do you mean by "have some ports fowarded to my machine"? Some of the the networking stuff is bit over my head....

It's possible that there is still a disconection hack out there. I don't play on bnet so I don't really know for sure, but I remember reading a lot about this happening to ppl in the forums at warcraftiii.net. It ususally happened to them when they were winning the game and about to defeat their opponet. I think there was mention of a "new" version of this where it disconnects the other player, but doesn't hurt their record if that player is on a ladder game. I think it also makes it so that the player using it doesn't get a win or loss either. That's all I know. You might want to do a search on the forums at warcraftiii.net and see if there's been further talk about it.

I checked out warcraftiii.net, and found many folks with the same problem I'm having: Starting a build, getting a few fighters and a hero and then boom, "Waiting for Host" and getting disconnected. Disconnect hacks come up in a few threads, but mainly people are scratching thoer heads.

I have had similar problems with other Blizzard games, Diablo and SC exhibit connection difficulties. I'd certainly be willing to pat $10 a month to use BLizzard's servers if it meant the network would be more reliable, if that is indeed the problem. Sigh....

Update:

Chatted with Blizzard Tech support in the WarCraft III Battle.net chat room. While waiting had abuse heaped on me because of my screen name (OS_X_Guy) by all the little twerps. Boo hoo.

Anyway, the Blizzard tech guy said that the newest ATI drivers would be needed. Apparently the drivers that ship with Jag aren't up to snuff... the latest ATI update (Radeon Mac Update 0207) Read Me file says NOT to install this update on Jag. We'll see what the August September timeframe brings I suppose.
