I'm looking to start a weekly or possibly bi-weekly Black & White game night on GameRanger. Anyone interested in playing?

What is your GameRanger ID? Mine is -Ashman-. Surprisingly, I've found quite a few people who have the game on GR. The trouble is that if you're behind a router you can't host unless you forward the correct ports to your machine. B&W online is a riot. It's fun to see what others have done with their creatures. I'm currently writing a utility that will allow you to change your creature type (including the Ogre) without having to go through the single player puzzles.

My GR name is "Vash OS X" Like you said I can not host games because I use airport. Even if I forwarded the ports the ABS has to be restarted, there my machine with B&W would need a manual IP.....which never works out properly.

I can host, but unfortunately B&W freezes up right after I hit the Start Game arrow in the chat lobby (B&W's chat lobby, not Gameranger). Everything works perfectly until I try to start the game. It gets stuck on the "Sending/Receiving Game Data" screen and the mouse curser no longer moves. I can CMD-Tab out to the Finder and back to Gameranger, so the machine itself is not frozen. On the other hand, when someone else hosts the game, B&W zips right on past that screen and into the game. Any ideas?

Follow-up for anyone coming back to this thread - Ash's problem hosting a game turned out to be the -hostip command line flag being set in the wrong place.

As far as we know there aren't any outstanding Mac-specific bugs with the network code, but if you have a problem let us know at bwsupport@zonic.co.uk.
