"Linux is now up and running pretty well. I've been told that we should be able to release the Linux client and server executables around the same time as the windows version ships. Official tech support isn't provided for the Linux versions. Currently Linux will only work well with Nvidia cards - apparently ATI's OpenGL Linux and Mac drivers don't support texture compression. Hopefully this is something they will soon fix."
"Mac development is just underway so it will still be a little while before it's done."
from Mark Rein from Epic at official forums.

Good news, I can't wait till it comes out.
UT is starting to show it's age and it'll be nice to see a new version of UT.

Linux support is from high essential in this game because game servers people want to run linux servers for the game... anyway if they are doing it in house for Mac , that's good. they wanna do it themselves..

Great news, especially the part about their doing the port "in-house." This leads me to believe they're taking the Mac gaming market seriously.

Yes, this is a very good sign.
Combine that with Blizzard's classic dedication to the mac gaming market, we don't need any of them stinky PC games!

From Inside Mac Games:
"Any idea how long the Mac port will take?"
We won't know that until after the PC version of the game ships but we're hoping to have it in stores in time for Christmas.

Usually the Mac versions come out late because of the issues in communication (approval etc. remember RtCW?) and intellectual rights management between the developer and the company doing the port, many times made worse by the publishing company/companies involved.
Quake III was done by iD inhouse and we got the demo first, as guinea pigs
I hope they find OS X development fun or atleast ok, and that Apple would back them up with support. That way, my longtime desire of getting UnrealEd working outside Windows might have a chance. They're using Maya, for atleast some stuff, so who needs StudioMax...
Whatever - time to start preparing... Double Jumps, Adrenalin Key Combos to learn...
Interestingly, in an IRC chat, Mark Rein said that playing without a CD key on a LAN 'is ok'. I wonder how many of our office machines can handle the graphics...
