I've recently re-installed Q3A from scratch, and now I can't get into any of my favourite servers due to misreported "unpure client" complaints, even though the console registers all the .pk3 files as good:

Current search path:
/Users/brentgulanowski/Library/Application Support/Quake3/ctf
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/ctf
/Users/brentgulanowski/Library/Application Support/Quake3/baseq3
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak6.pk3 (64 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak5.pk3 (7 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak4.pk3 (272 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak3.pk3 (4 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak2.pk3 (148 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak1.pk3 (26 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3/pak0.pk3 (3539 files)
on the pure list
/Volumes/Clarke/Games/quake3/baseq3

----

It's very annoying. I've tried removing mod folders, and that didn't help. OSP servers work fine, though. What else could cause "unpure"? Bad file dates? Bad file sizes? I installed 1.3 and 1.31b5 on top of default install. I haven't been able to play for over a week!!

Thanks but it looks like you had a different problem which you -thought- was unpure (ugh, it should be "impure" -- id needs an English lesson) was actually a problem with auto-downloading, according to the last poster on that thread. Anyway, I have the latest version and only the standard .pk3s and autodownloading was already on, but still no joy.

try downloading the latest patch for Quake 3. In RtCW I always used to get the unpure .pk3 files, because the Mac didn't have an update that the PC did.
Revenge is a meal best served cold.
