While waiting for Epic to get the Mac version going, find a PC and try it out: http://www.unrealtournament2003.com/

Also note the Infogrames forums for more info.

Yup, it looks really good. My roomie ran it very well and cleanly w/ his GF2mx variant and 1 ghz P3. It's b0rked on my PC. . .

There a few things I would change w/ it though. For one, the announcer volume is WAY too loud and currently there is no way to change that in the demo. Second, to me the gun graphics look to similar. I like to see my guns look distinctly different from the other ones. Third, I think some of the sounds should be changed. Fourth, the shock bomb graphics could be a lot cooler.

However, it looks great, runs well, and altogether r0x0rz. I can't wait for this to hit the Mac (hopefully Dec. like Epic said).

Hopefully I can get my hands on it tomorrow, when I have access to a similarly configured PC, 1 GHz and GeForce 2 something... nice to hear it works for someone

It's really fun that Epic (and iD, for that matter) choose to release demos for getting feedback, with time to still tweak the release. The forums at Infogrames are _really_ alive at the moment and the Epic/Atari/DE people are there, too.

Gotta go check the Tactical Ops site to see if there's any news there...

Demo seemed to run fine for me on a 1.5 ghz and a Radeon 7000 (64 meg)

Gameplay is a bit different that the original UT, it seems quite a bit faster and just feels more like Quake...I personally hated it when I first played...

after playing for a few hours, I got used to the speed (too much MOH I guess) and have started to really enjoy it..the game itself needs some tweaks (the announcer needs to go), but for the most part, it looks like it will be just as fun as the original

Does anyone know if Epic maybe might possibly port UED now that UT2k3 is coming out for Mac?

A quote I saw on Slashdot replying to the same question regarding Linux seemed skeptical, it said:

"Basically they are concerned about releasing documentation on the engine libraries, which change often and would "open up a ton of cheats we couldn't detect" (Ryan C Gordon)."

Here's the /. article , there might be more there on the topic later.

UnrealED is the free editor for Unreal Engine based stuff. It's a very advanced tool used for level design (and a lot more) by the developers themselves and it comes with the game for Windows.

See:

and

I'd love to have it at home, instead of staying late at the office doodling on my revolutionary maps...

Nope, bad news the editor wont come to Mac because it was made in visual c++ and that don't exist on mac or something, the mac demo will come, and the porting has just started..

here is mark rein talking about it , in the bloody discussion.
