I was thinking of getting Icewind Dale or Baldur's Gate II.

I remember when BG2 came out people said it was slow in osX. How does it run in 10.2? I have an iMac g4 with a geforce 2mx.

Does anyone know how Icewind Dale runs?

Also, do we know if we are getting any expansion packs for either of these games?

I heard its probably a "NO" for Baldur's Gate 2:Throne of Bhaal, is this because of poor sales? =(

BG2 will run fine, maybe a little slowdown in big battle but no worries, it ran fine on a 500mhz iBook disabling the graphic acceleration which doesn't bring much anyway.

As far as expansion it is incredible they wouldn't realease Throne of Bhaal. Most of the work was done porting BG2, the game was OS X compatible, sales should be good... Apparently they just got busy on other projects.
Neverwinter Nights will not be as fun I am afraid, far from the typical D&D game.

Baldur's Gate II on my G4/400 (1.5GB RAM, Radeon 8500) is lethargic at best, no matter what resolution, no matter what configuration. It is excrutiatingly slow -- it takes ages for the game to respond to mouse clicks, while the sound plays normally.

Icewind Dale is playable, but that's primarily because it uses the older BG engine. For games, I still boot to Mac OS 9 whenever possible for optimum performance.

It's acceptable for me... slow during large battles, but OK.
G4-450x2/Radeon/384MB/OS9.2.2

Since battle commands should be issued while paused, at least if you're any good ( ), slow framerates really shouldn't be an issue.
Be happy.

Does anyone have reliable information on what happened to The Trone of Bhaal? Without that expansion, BG2 is just... incomplete!

4CDs of killing some wizard (pathetically boring plot) and no expansion... then we've been had.

Not that it's strictly MacPlay's fault, but rather Bioware's for creating such a lame plot anyway.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Actually, at Amazon.com's Mac game section, it says that BG2: Throne of Bhaal as well as IWD: Heart of winter are available for pre-order on the 15th of October. Does that mean it will ship then? I dunno, since there is no offical word from MacPlay... but I'm hopeful!

That would be indeed something. MacPlay/Bioware not informing Inside Mac Games or something? Hehehe....

But wasn't the issue, aside from "popularity of expansions" (e.g.. ToSC), that there was a conflict between Wizards of the Coast and the publisher? Or did that apply to Neverwinter Nights?

Out of curiosity

a) what hole has NWN dropped into? (I thought it was supposed to be out by now)

b) why do you feel it won't be as fun?

I thought it was simply the next best thing , but curious to know if that is not the case.

Thanks!
Mike

PS. BG2 was fine for me G4/800.
