I'm trying to get some more gaming life out of my 400mz PCI G4 [the first ones released]. I finally found a place that had the old Radeon Mac Edition cards in stock and I'm wondering if this makes sense as an investment to replace the original Rage128 card that came with my Mac.

From what I understand, I should get better performance at higher resolutions, but I'd be curious to hear about any first-hand experience with this card.

Does this make sense as an upgrade, or are the improvements too modest to justify the price? Any opinions one way or another would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I put an original Radeon PCI card in my B/W 450 (overclocked from 350 ) and it made games much more playable. RTCW etc became more playable, though MOHAA is still a bit much for it.

If it cheap enough buy it, but I have heard that the newer Radeon 7000 PCI is a better card.

Just grab a ATI 7000PCI edition. Anything more and your CPU can't keep up.
