If I were to install linux on my Mac, could I then play the linux demo version of UT2003? Or is that for x86 versions of linux only?

x86-only afaik...you'd have to change a bunch of code and recompile it to make it work on PPC.

It's almost certainly going to be a precompiled x86 binary -- i.e. not compatible with PPC Linux.
