I have a G4 800mhz gf4 mx imac. I just bought sof2 and found out that the game runs super super slow. I checked the macgame website and it says unless you have nice video card with nice processor. it would be really hard to play sof2 smoothly. Is it true?
ok, if it is true, how do i uninstall the freaking game? I wanna return it and maybe get the HoA:AA.
please help me out here

Select the folder and 1) drag it to the trash or 2) hit the delete button in your finder toolbar (if you have added it) or 3) select the folder and hit command (the apple key) and delete will send it to the trash.

Sof2 is no where near as demanding as MOH:AA. Although not too many games will run perfectly with a gf4 with on 32mb VRAM(not sure). SOF2 has a simple bugs, you can not choose very high for any texture setting or the game goes rediculously slow, about 3fps on a Geforce 4Ti with 128mb VRAM. If you have a 64mb gf4 then SOF2 should run quite welly. I have a gf4 with 64mb VRAM in a 867mhz quicksilver and it works quite welly.

No where near as demanding? I disagree. I'd say they are at least on par with each other, with SoF II getting the slight not. The damage detection in Single Player is a lot more sophisticated than MoH. The textures in SoF II are also higher quality.

Wow these games are stupid if you can't run them on a geforece4MX.
That may not be cutting edge graphics acceleration, but it sure ain't the worst. Grr.

MOHAA is much less demanding of video card and processor than SOF II. I have both and with everything maxxed out on MOHAA (including volumetric smoke)it is very playable, 50+ fps dipping to mid 20's in hectic action.
Whereas SOF II maxxed out can manages about 3fps. If you set the textures down from max you can get up to 30fps but it hovers around 15 - 20fps. The frame rates do not increase even when you are staring at a wall with nothing else happening!
And don't even get me started on game play in SOF II! I have screen shots that clearly show enemies in sight that cannot be shot or grenaded until you have moved beyond a certain point on the map...

Have you tried tuning performance at all? There are a few settings which are turned on by default that really should be disabled on Macs since they cause a tremendous performance hit (I think they're the fog and anisotropic filtering).
I've seen a number of people playing SoF II online and they do just fine.
The multiplayer SoF II app is significantly less demanding than the singleplayer app since many of the excessive features are disabled.

Make sure you have "r_swapinterval 1" set. This turns on vsync, which is a necessity for all LCD screens.

Is there a way to play this game without the CD. I am playing this on a POwerBook and I do not want it to get extra hot because it is using the Cd constantly. I created Disk Images, but the game seems to require the Cd...
Thanks,
t

Not to resurrect an ancient thread...
But I was looking for SOF2 performance info and stumbled across this question.
If you take your original CD and make an image of it with Toast... LOCK THE IMAGE... and then use Toast to mount it, the game WILL think you have the CD in, and run fine.
