I'm getting rather tiresome of id and there game support. I know there is a patch out from version 1.30 that is supposed to meke it X compatable. I goto thir site and all they list is the Windoze and Linix files, not one single Mac file. So i head over to quake3world. Well they have the file or shall I say FilePlanet has the file. So now I gota sign up. Well I get to the file section to download the X update, and there is only one server. Well, not it tells me I must subscribe to download from this server. WTF man, all I want is an update for software to work with my system. Why must we pay FilePlanet just for updates now, it's like apple charging for a point version update.

Okay I think I see what's been going on. I have Quake III Gold, come with Team Arena. It's version 1.30. VersionTracker has updates, 1.32 Test 2, and 1.32 Test 4. I see there is another one that is just 1.32 update. Everytime I try and update and it asks where my quake 3 folder is, I tell it, and it always kicks me back out asking where it's located again, then I hit quit and the program crashes, go figure on that one. I'll try to get the 1.32 update now, the ftp site is too busy right now.

Well here goes the run around again. I have OSX 10.1.5. My current version of Quake III is 1.30 right off the cd. I see there are 3 new version updates. 1.32, 1.32(2), 1.32(4). I tried the 1.32 update and it keeps telling me to select the install directiory, every time i select Quake3's directory it still come up and asks for the install directory. Am I still missing something here?

Man if you ever figure this out let me know. I've had the exact same problem. Ultimately it's just easier to boot into 9 for me.

I just installed Q3 and then the 1.32 test 4 version on my PB 800. Wow...I cannot stop fragging.
By the way Test 5 is out...but it seems like it is way too popular, and the ftp servers are loaded...can someone post a link to some mirror please.

Thanks,

t

How about a little instruction please. Can one go from the gold retail version of 1.30 DIRECTLY to this new test 1.32 test 5? Will this disable the classic version? Or does it require all the interim updates or just the initial 1.32 with the test 5 update to follow. What version servers can we play with the new update? 67, 68??? None of this crap seems "clearly" addressed by the Mac gaming sites much less by the designer/programmer

Can I just install the test 5 patch for 1.32 or do I need to upgrade my quake 3 arena for 10 first then do the patch?

To install do the following

1. Unstuff 1.32 .sit file
2. Open your Q3 folder
3. Drag all files inside the 1.32 baseq3 folder to the installed baseq3 folder. (Replace files if asked)
4. Drag Quake3 mission pack and pb over into the quake3 folder.
5. Double click on the Quake3 app (Not the original "macquake3" this is the os 9 version)

I did this just now with a clean install of Quake 3.

Cheers Edwin

Thank you for all the help. I see what I was doing wrong now. Test five is up and running. Mouse is behaving erratically making it almost unusable having tried three mice now. It seems to be a known issue and it is after all a test release.

With that said, does anyone know what Quake 3 arena point release I need to play version "67" servers in OS 9.2.2??? I'm currently limited to version 66 servers and I am dieing to get back to playing a favorite "Space Only" server there.

Thanks .... Rox

I still can't get past the thing that says 'You need to select the installation directory for Quake III."

Any ideas?
