Now that Aleph One (the open source versino of Marathon ∞) has been updated to take advantage of TCP/IP networking, anyone want to try an internet game or two?

This is a game that I've been waiting for for a long time... especially since all the M2, M∞ mods work with AO!!!

I'll give it a try tomorrow night if you want. This is what I was really hoping the open source would bring us...TCP/IP...it's a shame they worked on a bunch of useless crap such as 3D-model support, and other ridiculousness.

All I wanted was OpenGL and TCP/IP...and now it's finally freakin' here...in a very beta form.

That version is OSX only, and while I have OSX, Apple dropped support for my wireless card, meaning I can only go online in 9.

I thought the new release was a carbon app that worked in 9/X. I never use 9 except for one app, and I use that in classic, so I've never tested it.

As for the wireless card, aren't there a bunch of opensource drivers out there for lots of wireless cards? Have you tried those? Don't know where to find them though. You'll have to hunt the networking forum.

What would it take to add Gameranger or Gamesmith support to Aleph One?

This is one of the many things that I've been looking for in the old game: Good old fashioned internet play for a fun old game.

You'd probably have to pay for the surgical removal of the gerbil that is stuck up Scott Kevill's butt.

That is possibly one of the most poetic things I have ever read.
