Maybe I just suck at this game (entirely possible) But I have been through all the human campaign, and the entire undead without too much trouble, now I am stuck at the end of the Undead, and I can't keep this guy from getting killed for 30 min - the game is losing its fun. I play for an hour, and get crushed. Again and Again. Any helpful hints?????

Alright, whatcha having trouble with, the last wave? You should be able to kill off each individual wave by using your hero, spirit towers, and spiders with web before then.

First off, make sure you micro your infernals and whatever is given to you appropriately; you don't want them dying off.

Secondly, catch the steam tanks before they do any damage to your buildings. These are really annoying and will cost you thousands, so make sure you do this.

I lost the first time I tried that level, but the second time I played, I delayed the last wave with a HUGE amount of ziggs/spirit towers (and some necs with skel autocast thrown in to spam the humans with skeletons). Basically just create as many ziggs as you can around the base before the last 5 minutes, cluster your necs, infernals, etc. in the little square, and hope for the best. If you do it right they won't be able to get to you by then.

Yeah, I get through all the first assaults with my hero, spiders and lots of ziggs, the steam tanks do hurt me badly. What do rec for units? The spiders have worked well, what about abom's?

At the end I have lots of ziggs, all my hounds and infernals, and mines all around the man, but the humans bust through and wreck me - I love this game but this is ridiculous - I can't play anymore

Is it worth going after the second gold mine in the right corner??

What do you mean by 'micro' the infernals??

Thanks for the tips-

Spiders do piercing damage, so they're not going to work that great against the tanks. Tanks have fortified armor (like a building), so the best unit to take them down would be a meat wagon, or atleast some heavy melee troops (aboms, ghouls).

If you've got the cash, I'd definitely pump some aboms into the mix. Also, don't forget about gargoyles... since the 1.03 patch they're very useful.

At the end I have lots of ziggs, all my hounds and infernals, and mines all around the man, but the humans bust through and wreck me
There are some goblin land mines hidden in crates on the left side of the map (I believe... the game tells you about them and points them out at some point in the level). Bust open the crates and use the mines to secure the area around the guy you're trying to protect... they really help.

Other than that... make tons of zigs... I'm not sure if that's a viable strategy anymore though, since they cost a lot more gold due to the balance changes in the newest patch.

Another trick you can try is not using the infernals you're given... if you can survive without their help until the very end you'll have a nice infernal army to help you hold off the last wave of troops.

I love this game but this is ridiculous - I can't play anymore
The 'survive for XX minutes' levels aren't that fun, and there's noting wrong with skipping them by pressing return and typing 'allyourbasearebelongtous'

Right, as the poster mentioned above, you'll need some stuff that does decent damage vs. fortified, i.e. aboms or meats. Undead without a question has the best air after 1.03 so you might be okay with mass gargs.

I forgot about the cost change with zigs, but that's okay. Don't make as many of them into spirit towers, because you can hold off the last wave overwhelming them with *any* buildings (I built a few crypts for kicks). I had 3/4 of a screen filled with zigs and I won comfortably -- make sure you're building enough. The second mine will help with that.

> Is it worth going after the second gold mine in the right corner??

Yeah, definitely. You don't have to defend it either.

> What do you mean by 'micro' the infernals??

Micro means to micromanage, that means making sure you manage every single unit. If a unit is being hurt, move it away quickly. Focus fire on the steam tanks.

Micro means a lot in WC3 (as opposed to SCBW, where you could just throw a mass of marines and medics into battle and turn your attention to your base/exp).

Good luck: yeah, you can cheat and skip the level. But that's no fun.

P.S.: Okay, cheap strategy idea. Block off the entrance to your lich with shades (after building sufficient zigs of course) and destroy any air that comes your way with gargs. That may just work. You can also try this with stone formed gargs: with full upgrades they have massive armor and under the DK's unholy aura regen they're virtually indestructable.

I just built a solid wall of Spirit Towers all the way around Kel'thuzad's platform, and quite a few outlying towers as well. You can't completely enclose it, but you cam make them have to go a long way -- while under fire -- to get around the wall. A handful of acolytes patrolling just inside the wall, set to auto-repair, should keep it up long enough if you've also got some combat units on the outside.
