After playing Animal Crossing (Gamecube), I realize just how strangely addictive an open-ended game can be. I'd forgotten from the days of EV. And although Animal Crossing is, as I said, strangely addictive, it doesn't have much going for it*. Basically all you can do is fish, catch bugs, dig up stuff, talk to animals... and I still waste an insane ammount of time with it. If it had laser guns, space pirates and aliens in it... woah. I'd have lost my job by now. Luckily, Ambrosia went with pretty well-regimented storylines in EV:N, allowing you to finish it in a matter of a couple of days, as opposed to just a percent of your waking hours.

*You can find old NES games, which you can then play in game (full screen) on the gamecube, or upload them to your GBA's ram and play whereever, so it does have that going for it. which is nice.

I'm thinking about buying Animal Crossing right after I finish Metriod Prime and Fusion. Lot of my friends told me that Animal Crossing is extremely addictive and I'm so curious. I love that kind of game but I decided not to purchase it because I rarely have long free time but now I have to reconsider and cancel some of my schedule

Now I'd have to ask... How does that system work? I know Animal Crossing isn't an online game but how do you trade without online? Is it more of "fake" trade system by using secret code number or there's a different way of trading?

You can trade one of your items for a code, that is specific to a specific name in a specific town. Then you give them the code, and they can trade it in for an item.

Like I said, this is a game where you go around talking to little animals and shake trees and try to find furniture. And it's addictive. If Ambrosia pursued this same idea (like EV) with ship upgrades, trade items, pirates and governments... it might just be too much for me to handle. If they put in the ability to find NES roms, well, ... words fail me.
