How do I obtain a seamless FPS?

Is there anything I can do to optimise my iBook 500 for games?

Can I allocate all those Mb and RAM to pure game experience?

Tonight I ain't interested in anything but MAXIMISING iBook game fun.

Yours thoughtfully

Well if you use OS X there isn't much you can do more than updating to 10.2.2 to get the latest video drivers. Avoid the latest FPS power hungry games. Try Macmame, the Pangea and Ambrosia games.

And if I am using OS 9.2, can I improve a games performance?

Answers hugely appreciated, as I imagine this question has likely been asked before........I couldn't find where though.

Yes, you will get a big increase in OS 9. Turn on Virtual Memory as well, no matter how much you have. You'll get about 10 more FPS in Quake 3 that way. If you have Quake 3 BTW, I have a good config for you.

Okay, I will make sure my VM is on, but I have a feeling it already is.....can't do it right now as this is my Mac at work, rather than iBook at home.

The reason I am asking is some sloooow areas I am finding on Tomb Raider III in the Temple Ruins level. Tomb Raider II ran like a dream - great game IMHO - so I am suprised to find TRIII runs worse, especially as the game is more recent.... 1998 gaming in 2002!

Rampant - I haven't got Quake 3, but am downloading a demo right now (36 minutes to go....if only broadband was universal), so will certainly be interested to hear a configuration for the game, as I might learn something for future game configs, and then I can run my own tests etc.
