Free shirt too! Put off laundy that extra day!

We got the level editor this time around as well, I'm a happy camper

HOMM IV? What's that again? The abbreviations throw me off sometimes.

Received mine. GF is testing it. Told me it's been blowing up on her in 10.2.2. I'm having her test in 9.2.2. If that fails also I'm going to put 10.1 on my external drive and test the results playing under that. It's been blowing up when she enters fights. Anyone else see this? I'm going to touch it myself when I get home. Limits to troubleshooting from here

Hero's Of Might And Magic 4

humm...I guess I will put off updating my system then

I'm still at 10.2.1 and I give it a quick run and it didn't blow up on me when I got into battle. But I'm back from class and going in now so I'll see....

Late

edit: okay, just crashed. But I changed the screen size from mid (default) to max. Going to set it back to see if that fixes it...

I tried a vanilla load of 10.2 and had it crash in that too. 9.2.2 will let it run, but it's just unplayable. From my log:

I'm going to try reloading the external drive with 10.2. I lied earlier. I decided on 10.2 since it would be quicker. Going to go load 10.1. Requires a 10.04 load with a 10.1 patch. Eww... Later.

You'll be happy to know. I managed to reproduce the exact same symptoms in 10.1.5. Looks like some beta testers were slacking off and didn't test the top resolution. Another annoyance is that this doesn't look like it comes with hotseat. That was my favorite feature in HoMM3

yeah, I noticed no hotseat as well

But there is some hope. The expansion which just came out for windows lists "enhanced multiplayer options" on the box so maybe hotseat got scraped and is brought back with this expansion.

HOTSEAT EXISTS!!!!
Do a scenerio game and click on details to turn on how many human players are on the map. Then once you select the map click on the checkbox this will turn on the human player.

Cool Thanks. Just what I wanted to see... BTW, I managed to snag 200 maps before the game showed up, so I have some selection Let me know if you need some sites.

Now if they could figure out the blowup feature with the high resolution I'd be very happy. It looks so much better at the top resolution. Need to see more map.

yeah, sang my email and drop me a line.

How is it running for you? On my dual 1Ghz w/GF4Ti 768ram etc, it runs pretty good but there are still sticky stops where all animation stops for the AI to think. Seemed to get worse the long I played as well, so I think it's leaking bad.

FWIW, this isn't a crash log, it's just your regular ol' console spew. To enable crash logs, you have to go to the Preferences menu item in the Console app and check the two boxes in the "Crashes" tab in the preferences dialog.

Thanks Brad. I wasn't sure where to look for that sort of information. I'll try to get the 3do guys a real log later today.

Dual 800, GeForce 3 768 MB Ram. Seems pretty slow during the computer turns. Reminds me of playing Heroes 3 on my old Motorola 225MHz clone with the game running in Virtual Memory This is much more playable, but I think I'm going to be reading during the computer players turns. I also noted slowdown during battles when the computer has to think about what to do when it starts it's moves. It can distract you from the battle flow at times. Quick battle is starting to look appealing.

Looks like the game isn't threaded as top shows it taking up only 1 cpu at any given time. Not that I would have expected it to, with the original PC code probably not supporting multiple processors. I did tinker with the scenario editor. Looks spiffy. Not going to get in depth with it until I get some more playtime under my belt. After all. I have to figure out what things do

And now for the Map sites. Since more people are interested. I might as well post them here:

http://heroes.mycomport.com/cgi-bin/...earch_maps.cgi

http://www.heroes.kiev.ua/files/maps.html

http://h3trio.com/Non_Java_Menu/nonjavamainpage.htm

http://www.heroes.h1.ru/heroes4/maps.php

Granted not all the maps are going to be in English, but they're still playable. Hope everyone enjoys. I'm surpised that there aren't more maps out there. I have over 800 Heroes 3 maps Then again that has been out quite some time.

Well, my gf and I finished our first map and started a second. After playing this game for a full weekend I must say it's as addictive as Heroes of Might and Magic III. I've been playing Life / Nature mixes. I like having 2 heores in a party. It makes it interesting being able to cover the weak spots in your first hero. We'll see how using two heroes in a party works out in the long term It seems that the game play faster on maps that are less crowded. Our first map was very busy and computer turns took a while until we started killing them off. On the new map we've started which is more open, the turns are going much quicker. Please note these comments are based on XL maps. I'm sure the game will run much quicker with S and M sized maps. I'm not sure how well this game will run on the 350 Mhz G3 which is the lowest recommended spec. Still waiting to hear back from 3do on the resolution issue. Hopefully they'll acknowledge receipt if nothing else. I figure it will be some time before the problem is fixed.
