I wonder when NWN will be out for Mac. This is my first Mac (Ti) and I was wondering if I would get at least a little close to the performance I had with my PC that had a Ti4200 128MB GeForce4 card. Obiously it wouldn't top it but I'd still buy a copy!

Bioware has lost much of my respect... lying scum...
"Simultaneous release" my ass -- it appears they didn't even START working on the Mac version 'til after the PC version was released. And there's still no release date... could be a while... read the news updates: SOUND did not work until like a month ago. That's a pretty big thing.
I guess BG : DA on my GCN will have to tide me over for longer than I initially expected!

Be happy.

I agree...they've lost my respect also. I distinctly remember them saying they were also working on the Mac version while they were working on the PC version. After saying it would be a simultaneous release they said, they wouldn't make it and release it around September.
They didn't even f**king start working on the Mac version 'till after the PC version was out.
If they had at least been honest, I would have understood...but they shouldn't tell me they're working on something if they're not. Because of this, I'm not buying NWN. They lose!

You guys should do a little bit more research to get the facts straight.
They were working on the Mac version simulatenously earlier on in the development. That version was carbon based and would've run on OS 9 and OS X.
Here's something from 2001 where they mentioned the carbonized version of NWN:
http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q2-2001/041301c.html
They scrapped that version and started a new OS X only version based on the Linux version. I'm still trying to find the post where I read about that It might have been an audio interview.

Might not be a bad thing in the long run. I'd rather a late game than one badly optimized for X... but I would far rather they had TOLD us about the change.

I don't need to do any research. This should have been mentionned publicly and not hidden on some unknown website.

I really enjoyed playing NWN on my pc and now that I switched, I was happy to hear that the Mac version is coming out soon. As for the system requirements, I do not know yet but Im pretty sure I can play it decently on my Pb 1ghz. Looking fwd to World of Warcraft too, but thats another thread

If you don't want to read up on it, then that's not the developer's fault. It's not the developer's job to keep customer's appraised of how far along development is for their games. They volunteer that type of information. If you're too lazy to do any research on your own, then you shouldn't complain.

Here's the problem.
The delayed release will result in a number less customers purchasing the game. It had it's heyday, and now there are newer/better games coming out.
When Bioware sees the lower numbers they will note that their game did not sell well and future games will not be released for the Mac citing low sales potential.

The problem is Bioware said one thing publicly and then said another thing buried in an interview in some obscure news article somewhere. You can't do research on information that isn't there or so well hidden it is practically not there. Bioware was extremely hush hush over their ditching on the Carbon NWN port. A lot of people, myself included were planning on picking up NWN. I was hoping it would be out around the same time as the PC port if not a little later. It has yet to be released on Mac and I really don't want to pick up a PC copy now if I have to get the Mac port later (which is the port of it I really want).
Doing research is one thing, a company ditching a project they said was going to be released and then not giving you ANY idea when you can expect the game is entirely different.

The biggest reason for the delay stems from one HUGE bad decision; someone decided in the interest of "ease" to use the Borland RAD tools to develop the toolset. Now, this decision was apparently made because Borland promised to have both linux and Mac versions of their RAD environment. Those have never seen the light of day. Of course, any fool could have told Bioware that Borland wouldn't know cross-platform if it was rammed up their.... well, anyway.
So, the toolset had to be farmed out to someone who specializes in porting software to the Mac. Who the developer is has not been released. MacSoft made the decision (and publicly announced it, as well) to HOLD BACK on releasing the Mac Version of the Player/DM Clients until the toolset was done, as it is their view (and one I agree with) that NWN is what it is in large part due to the toolset. Around that time is when BioWare made the decision to scrap the Carbon version and start over from the Linux codebase.
