I've got an iBook 700 with 256 megs of Ram and is running on Jaguar.... and I'm pretty interested to play some games... so, here I am wondering what games should run OK on my machine?

Games I have in mind:
-Star Wars JK2
-Q3A
-Tom Clancey's Ghost Recon
-Doom 3 (when it gets out)

What other nice games run well on a 700mhz machine? Please recommend.
Thanks

Star Wars JK2...no.
Q3A...will run decently.
Ghost Recon...not sure.
Doom 3...definitely not.

Also since those games are first person shooters you are going to want to get an external mouse if you're serious about playing them. It's way hard to play with that trackpad. I'm going to pick up something like Tomb Raider Trilogy for my iBook. It will run well and I can play with just the keyboard.

it's pretty sad to hear that even for some high end Macs, games don't perform as well as compared to most PCs these days.

Oh well, I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the responses.

Hmm, which iBook is this? Is it a new one with a 16 MB Radeon Mobility 7500? In this case, you will be a happy camper with JediKnight 2 and Quake 3. You will have turn some detail down in JK 2 though, but it will do the job.

Ghost Recon should work.

Steve

P.S. Forget about Doom III .... obviously.

How will JK2 play on the new 32mb iBooks? Can you play without turning down the options too much?

You can play most games with a 16 MB DDR or 32 MB DDR video card except Doom III and Soldier of Fortune II. Just have to do some tuning to the settings.

I'm using that very laptop, the 700 combo before the recent revision DOES have a 16MB graphics card! JKII works fine (from my quick play) at 640x480, at about medium settings, it'd probably go higher but I haven't tried.

Just reiterate though you will need an external mouse :-)
