I have bought two games recently...F1, and MOH:AA. I love them both. What I do not understand is why do you need to have the disk in to play the game? I installed both disks...2 CDs, and now it is taking up a crapload of space on my HD...can it be patched so that it would not tie up my CD-Rom drive as well?
I use a PB, and just do not feel like carrying around the CDs with me wherever I go.
Thank you,
t

I think it's a crappy attempt at copy protection. You can use diskcopy to make images of the cd's and mount them before playing the game... that'll let you play without the CD in the drive I believe... but then you're taking up a lot of space on your harddrive for the games. It'll save battery power though.

Yes...I know about DiskCopy, thank you...but that is really not what I am looking for. I just do not get it...I pay for Photoshop, install it, but do nt need a CD (yet) to use it. What is up with games? I cannot stand this! Any workarounds?

I've found many games where the DiskCopy trick doesn't work. I make an image, mount it, but the game seems to realize that it's not really a CD and STILL demands that I put the CD in the drive. Medal of Honor is one of those annoying games too.

There are actually quite a few games besides MoH where Disk Copy images won't work. However, other types of disk images may work, such as Toast disk images. Sometimes the trick is in which app you use to mount the game. IE, for Ghost Recon in OS X, I mount a Disk Copy image (created in OS 9) with OS X Disk Copy AND Toast. I have two disk images mounted... but it works.

Take a search @ Carracho or KDX. There you will find some cracks.
