Well, playing through again as Barabas or Muro, or as Tiny Invisible Glowing Konoko is pretty cool. See http://oni.bungie.org for all the codes.

I like to enable the "Every Man For Himself" cheat, so all the enemies attack each other, then add the gatling guns and Fist Of Legend as well. Then just run around killing things for a while for no reason.

Using the shapeshifter code to play as other characters gives you an idea of how much this game would have kicked ass if it had a multi-player option.
It's too bad Oni never got a chance to live up to its potential.

Hey jfinete,
Yes I agree with you. I find Oni to offer the best game play around, altho I admit that I am not a big gamer.
While Oni is a good game, it had the potential to be an excellent game. We ended up with a game that lacked multiplayer option (offering endless replay possibilities,) reduced number of levels and a story line that could but didn't.
This is one game that I still boot into OS 9 to use.

Does it run better for you in 9? Because the original app is Carbon which runs in both 9 and X, and OmniGroup did an X-native Cocoa version. However, it appears that there's a problem with Nvidia cards and that Cocoa one. (see the **** Oni thread below)

Yes, the original game was Carbonized, and it'll run natively in OS 9 or X. Unfortunately, Oni was written to an early version of the Carbon specification, and its mouse control is buggy.
When 10.1 was released, it probably would have easy to just fix the Carbon version. But by that time, Bungie had moved on and was dedicated to the XBox.
The Omni group wrote a Cocoa version for free so they could gain experience porting games. It'd be nice if Omni fixed their Cocoa version, but you really can't blame them for concentrating on the games they get paid to work on.
So basically, it's all Microsoft's fault that Oni didn't live up to its potential
