I've been told that Freedom Force is being released for the Mac. Does anyone know the system specs that will be needed to run it? I've got an iBook SE. The specs are as followed...

The Apple iBook SE "466" features a 466 MHz PowerPC 750cx (G3) processor with a 256k on-chip level 2 cache, 64 MB of RAM, a 10.0 GB IDE hard drive, a 4X DVD-ROM drive, and 2X-AGP ATI Rage Mobility graphics acceleration in a sleek, two-toned professional "graphite" or outlandish "key lime" case. The iBook SE "466" has the same 12.1" TFT active-matrix display and innovative "AirPort" wireless networking as earlier iBook models, but includes a single FireWire port and an AV port for composite video out.

Thanks!

I think you should be fine...but I'm not entirely sure. You probably won't get stellar performances but...

You can read the requirements here: http://www.macplay.com/games/freedomforce.shtml

G4 400MHz
192MB of RAM
600MB free disk space
Any ATI Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce video card
Mac OS X version 10.1.5

Doesn't look good for any iBooks.

Freedom Force can be surprisingly forgiving if you miss one or two of the requires specs... but the clamshell iBook (of any vintage) falls short of just about all of them. It may run, but your performance would be measured in seconds per frame.

The lowest-end portable I (personally, not Omni or MacPlay) can recommend running it on is a 1st-gen TiBook or a 16 VRAM iBook.

A friend just emailed me this bit of info too. "Any ATI Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce video card with at least 32MB of memory" Link

A G4 processor?! A video card with 32mb of memory?! Geez Louise! And I had finally talked (ie "begged") my wife into buying it for our anniversary. Oh well.

Thanks for the info everyone.
