Hey,

I discovered most servers today want you to download a 1.03 update. But I looked at MacPlay and only found 1.02. Is there a way to play on the servers without 1.03?

Unfortunately, no. The patch includes some new maps, and (I believe) engine tweaks (major tweaks, I believe, to the Random Map Generator). These changes prevent users with previous engines from being able to fairly play a game hosted on a server with the 1.03 Gold engine. You will have to wait for Omni to port the 1.03 Gold update to OSX before playing on these servers.

However, from what I gather from some people who have the update, it is so awesome that 1.02 pales in comparison. So, hopefully, the patch will be ported soon, and then it will have been worth the wait.

Some people have been able to download the 103 pak file and play on 1.03 servers. I think IMG's forum had some links to the files. It's definitely not an official upgrade path, but if you can get it to work, cool. I may have to give it a try next time I boot up SoFII (darn CD is lying around somewhere!).
