Well we all know, with the release of 10.2.3 we got some kool new gaming texturing stuff. SOF2 saw a dramatic increase in fps. Will the current games that are out be updated to take advantages of these new texture technoligies? such as Ghost recon, Jedi Knight 2, max payne, NOLF, RTCW etc? Or will these games be just kinda dumbed and all efforts will be put on future games. And also, one thing I don't get, what is with the COMPLETE lack of MP (Multi Prossesors) support on games? Even on games that are based on engines that offer MP support! such as the quake engine and its use on JK2, RTCW, MOHAA, etc. And with the reslease of a bunch of APIs from Apple to help port windows apps over to Mac, wouldn't that leave extra time to add in MP support? I mean, how long does it take to port a game? I mean look at aliens vs predator 2 by macplay/omni, the PC versiosn been out for over a year, and the mac version still isn't out, isn't a whole year enough time to add some MP support to a game? I know if it was added I wouldn't mind wait a bit longer for games. Also I know if I was looking at 2 games to buy, and one offered MP support, i'd spend my money on that one in a heat beat. So I guess this is a plea to game companies, PLEASE, add even just a little MP support, Omni group did it with Giants and did a WONDERFUL job, please, we spend spend extra $$ on MP machines, lets get some games other than quake 3 that take advantage of em.

P.S. i think i'm gonna send this to Aspyr, Macplay. Omni, and Ferral, Please email them also if you have a MP machine.

Jedi Knight 2 supported SMP and the new 10.2.3 texture compression stuff out of the box. It had a fallback case to generic texture compression on 10.2 through 10.2.2, so you won't notice as dramatic a speed bump with 10.2.3 as you would with a game that needs to be updated to take advantage of these technologies.

Also, Apple hasn't released any Win32 porting APIs, they just put out some documentation for Windows developers that introduced them to the Mac APIs using the stuff they knew as a starting point.

Finally, most every Mac game developer is aware of the intense interest and desire for MP support, but often due to the way the PC version was written, it's a super-bitch to get implemented on the Mac. If it's even halfway possible, you can bet a game developer is going to give it a shot.
