I work at a University where we've always had lots of Macs.

When you have a big open office or a lab type of setting, multiplayer games really shine. Being able to anticipate how a single small click of your mouse will in the next second cause an eruption of obscenities at the other end of the room ...

We've played Marathon, Carmageddon, Myth, UT and Tactical Ops, for example.

But now that we have even more machines and more people with less gaming experience, it'd be nice to find some game that's:

- easy to learn (few necessary controls, no fast- paced 360° spatial coordination required)
- for 2 - 16 simultaneous players
- quick to get into (launch time, key configuration, joining already running game)
- less violent than the mentioned
- flexible in its licensing (like Myth's 10 free multiplayer- only clients per one running host)
- fun and addictive

Any ideas for games or developer views appreciated!

Airburst network is good, same with Pop-Pop.

There is, of course, board games but they're boring as hell.

Insta IS fun, and UT2K3 allows LAN play with one CD. (Mark Rein from Epic spesifically mentioned this in an interview). It's absolutely on our list, as we have UT2K3 action on our PCs already.

Still, it's quite a fast- paced spatial game which requires a lot of practice.

BTW, have you seen the Laser Insta Mod? Looks nice....
