I don't actually have any games for my Mac so please forgive my ignorance, but I'm interested in Freelancer
Anyone know anything about a Mac port? Or are there any similar Mac games?
Do you expect this game to be very 'processor hungry'? (currently G3 400mhz soon to be 12" powerbook)
thanks in advance.

I have heard nothing of the sort, but I'm sorry to say that it's probably not a possibility. I mean, look at what happened to Halo - Microsoft seized control of Bungie and now there will not be a Mac release. Frrelancer is also now a Microsoft game, and even so, since it was never announced for the Mac (like Halo was) it probably won't come.
I have seen this game before, and I think it's fantastic. I hope eventually that it makes its way over, but that's just a hope. Sorry to provide you with no more information than you already know. I hope to get to the same conclusion.

Dude, hasn't Mac Halo been announced at least a half a dozen times? Everyone from Bungie to Destineer, to Westlake (who are doing the port) have announced it. You write yourself that it's been announced. Why the pessimism?

Why the pessimism? Because I'm pissed off! Not too long ago on these forums, there was a re-announcement that Halo won't be released. I'll see if I can find the thread...

My bad, it was a misread. Maybe my hatred for Microsoft had kicked in ...heheh. I did buy an xbox, however, just so I could play Halo. ****ing Microsoft...

It depends on the success. If it's very successful - chances are high that it's coming to the Mac. The Mac version would be published by Bold / Destineer (Age of Empires 2).
BTW: EV Nova sucks!

Haha, that's just because you're a little wuss that has trouble fighting or defending a sector and constantly have to flee.
That or you're a merchant.

This is one of the points about Nova. Fighting. It's boring (one of the reason is because the game is in 2D).
Wouldn't it be wonderful to make real mass battles in 3d like in Freelancer (via multiplayer)?
The problem about Nova is that it's just toooooo simple. I can't stand this game. And playing as a merchant is hell in EVN.

Someone is porting Freespace 2 to Mac OS X, proof here .
The game was released in 1999, sourcode had been out for some time, it has the same concept and premise as Freelancer and still looks good to this day.
Terminus too (os9 only)
There is also the freeware and early beta Vega Strike
And of course the OSX port of Elite, the forefather of Space Opera games, this is where it all started!
For multiplayer dogfight space sims, there is Parsec and Vendetta
