I hope they get OpenGL hardware acceleration in there eventually.

I'm happy anyways though.

Oh come on...you can't wait 18 days? It's not like if they announced it super early and are making you wait 4 months or more.

w00t indeed! and they're also threatening to make Myth III decent, too, it sounds like. Myth III had a lot of potential--the graphics engine was gorgeous, but the stability, poor voice acting, and lack of attention to detail made it very clearly not Bungie, and i guess therefore it couldn't help but leave a bad taste in peoples' mouths. Perhaps now it will get a second chance...

Indeed this is awesome. I thought Myth II support was completely dead. Myth III is horrible, and I cant wait to play Myth II again. Funny their still updating a game thats years old with a sequel thats already out. Why couldn't someone do this for Unreal 1?

Hmm, to use the original installer I'll need OS 9 - which I don't have on my machices anymore. Guess I'll have to install it on an old mac at work...

..but great news, indeed! I wonder if it works for those 'netplay client only' installs?

If so... whoohoo LAN party!

Judge_Fire: I think that you can install the game by dragging the folder 'Myth IIf' and the large install tag files directly off the CD.

Haa! I e-mailed them a few times bitching about a carbon version! I just blew a load. I'm so happy! Hopefully some OpenGL support eventually, but I can live with running it in software mode without having to boot classic or 9. Man, awesome news.

Cool stuff. Myth 2 was a very fun game.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Good news for anyone wanting to try out the Carbon beta for Myth 2. I have put it on my iDisk. To install, just put the expanded Myth 2 applicaiton into your Myth 2 folder, insert disc (or mount disk image), and run the app. Only software mode (they will implement OpenGL in the future), but it runs great. Man, awesome!

It's only the beta -- the final version will be out on the 15th of this March.

Thanks, MindFad!

The beta almost works for me.. almost. I get the title screen, music and options just fine, but every game (single player, multiplayer or even tutorial) freezes in frame 1, with the text 'Body Count' in various places

The UI buttons at the top work and I can escape back to the menu, so it's not a crash, the game just doesn't start

Well, a beta is just that

Anyone with a Flat Panel iMac gotten it to work? (1st gen 17" here)

Ok, so I was missing the 1.2 and 1.3 patch plugins. Now it works.

Like suggested above, I had installed the game by copying the Myth II folder from the CD, then added the contents of the separate 'tags' folder on the CD into Myth II/tags/ folder on my Mac.

So no OS 9 involved. But the patches are only available as an OS 9 installer and I haven't ever had that OS on this computer. And will not install it for just one updater.

Even here at work, it took a while to find one, just to extract the files.

If someone else without Classic needs those plug-ins, drop me a line, they're 1.3 MB stuffed.
