OK, just got a new iMac 17" 1GHz. I start classic and go to install StarCraft off of the CD and then patch it and I get this message:
"Couldn't open installer archive. You must run the installer on the Starcraft CD"
Anyone ever see this?? Any help is appreciated. I know this works in OS 9 as I installed it at work on an OS 9 machine yesterday and it worked fine.

I'm assuming you got the OS X versions of Starcraft?
And you did a full install? Is this Brood War or just Starcraft?
What about rebooting to 9 and updating it through there?

Hmm...will it install in Classic? If not that sux since I guess you cannot boot into 9. The only way I know to get it to work is copy/burn the Starcraft Folder installed on your work computer and put it on the iMac. Then you can patch it and get the X version. If theres an easier way, I'd like to hear it .

As of 10.2.4 apple broke installing SC via classic. So you will have to boot into native 9 to install the game. Patch and runs fine....except. Quitting the game crashes it. So you will have to hit force quit then return twice. I contacted Blizzard about this and they said to try 1) permission repair and failing that 2) reinstall SC & delete the prefs file.
Hopefuly this will work for you as it did not work for me.

What you need is the SC 1.05B installer app on our support web - download that and run it while the CD is in the machine. After that you'll want to drop in the the OSX patch, also available on the support site.

Nice! Thanks for those links. I just got a new drive and have yet to install SC again. These will come in mighty handy.

Yes thanks for the links and thanks for all the help. As some have said, I can not boot into OS 9 as this is a NEW iMac and doesn't have the ability to. I am getting the installer files now!!
Thanks again.

I have should have replied to this long ago, but I was caught up in the Frozen Throne beta!! Which rocks by the way!! I would love to put up some screen shots but am not sure if it will get me booted. Well, the new installer works great and I can play starcraft now, but he, who wants to!!!
Sorry, it is not like me to brag!!
