Hi. When I tried playing Diablo II on my PowerBook I noticed they function keys (F1 - F12) are set by default to handle the volume and screen brightness, etc. Diablo II uses these keys to switch between skills and aside from hitting Fn + function key I can't access these skills. Hitting Fn + F7 is somewhat hard to do.

So is there a way to have like a "Fn Lock" as in "CAPS Lock" where I can just use these keys w/o having to hit Fn every time? Diablo II really needs fast skill switching.

Thanks.

I don't know a way to do what you're asking, but if you select option and configure keyboard, you can apply different keys than the function keys, such as normal keys on the keyboard.

You need to boot into OS 9. Open up the keyboard control panel. Hit the button that says function keys and then turn off the hot function thing. Quit the control panel to save your change and boot into OS X.

I'm describing this off the top of my head (i.e. without seeing the control panel), so I might be somewhat wrong, but you get the gist of it.

I haven't figured out a way of turning off this function key thing in OS X.

Easiest way around that problem is to use an external keyboard. I know, defeats the portability of the laptop and not the most ideal situation for all times, but if you're playing mainly at home and have an extra keyboard around, it works nicely.
