I want to share my experience with WarCraft III running on an 800Mhz PowerMac with 512mb of ram and the ATI 7500 32mb card. This blows away the Mac system requirements Blizzard suggests. When running WarCraft in OS 10.1.5 in general it does fine except when getting into large battes the whole thing will lock up on me and I have to reboot. This is with the resolution set lower (not sure of the exact setting at the moment) and everything set on medium. Also, a couple of sound options turned off which was recommended by Blizzard. When running in OS 9 these lockups never occur. This has got to be an OS X only issue from my experience. Is there a patch available that addresses this lockup issue? I have seen an update at version tracker but the description of it says it improves the play back feature. How can I check which version of WC III I currently have?

Go Jaguar, that solved a whole mess of problems for me.
10.1.x just sucks in my opinion

after you launch the game in the lower right hand corner is a version # of the game.
And upgrade to 10.2, you WILL see a big difference.

It baffles me that people are still running older version of the OS when they have the hardware to support it.
I imagine the world of Tech Support would be so much nicer if people just tried to keep up...

There are performance improvements in 1.03 and later (latest is 1.05) but you need Jaguar.
Your 7500 board, is it on AGP?
What model tower ?
I do recommend getting patched up to 1.05 by logging onto battle.net, and Jaguar 10.2 should offer more improvement on top of that.

Bingo, Gul Bannana. You read my mind. I would like to keep up but it's tough as fast as these upgrades come out. Especially the paid updates.
Anyway, thanks for the advice.

I just launched WarCraft III to check the version in the lower right corner. It is version 1.0. Where would be the easiest place to download an updated? How large is the update? I am on dialup.
The PM I am running is a Quicksilver. Last years model. And yes the 7500 is in the AGP slot.

My poor iMac is dying in X . I have a 700mhz LCD iMac with 640 mb of ram running 10.2. I am running at 800x600 with everything on medium and its really choppy. Hopefully performance updates are coming. Too bad I can't boot into 9.
