it'll run pretty good, the game could use some work, for some reason it will sslow way down in certian area of levels for no reaosn what so ever. But this happens only earlier in the game, but it still could use a overhaul I think.

dont think I would want to use the powerbook keyboard for play, since Im use to my full size desktop keyboard. the arrow keys on the laptop are too small for my hands...

But you may do ok with it...

forgot to mention....

there are some "bugs" in the game.... mac and pc versions..... but overall, It plays and works great!

one bug I noticed, and the company knows about it, is the sound.

on real busy servers in multiplayer mode, the sound will sometimes stop!

there is a temporary fix.... just type:

/s_stop

in the console..... or bind it to a keyboard key.... even better.

I just joined the RtCW world.... bought it from "PowerMacMan" (MacNN member..THX).. This game rocks on my DP1.25(FW800)..Radeon 9000 Pro card... can't imagine how well it will go IF I get the Radeon 9700 Pro or the current nVidia Ti4600.

The grahpic is very impressive on my 17" studio display... I set all the options to the highest..

While installing, it asked me to check and d/l the latest 1.32 patch. Nicely done.

With a ATI 8500 card in a low end G4/400 at least the demo plays nicely, so a 1 GHz should be plenty

BTW is there a way to get the frame rate displayed as in U, UT and Q3??

RtCW uses the Q3 engine, so chances are that it uses the same command.

If you don't remember the setting just do a google search....

Actually, the latest patch is 1.41. As most are of the PC servers are at 1.40 or 1.41, you'll have to download this patch to have a good selection of servers to play on.

Anyone else tried banimod? It gives new classes such as Commanding Officer, Rocket Pilot, and Spy. There's also a new game type called Gold Rush. It rocks, if you can find a server with this mod give it a try.

My handle I use most in RTCW is:

NuketheMiddleEAST

(in red, white, blue colors).

sort of throws political correctness out the window, huh?

You are right, Leonard. The NetUpdate only d/l the 1.32 updater only yesterday. Meanwhile, I noticed that the 1.4.1 is listed as beta release.

I'm on Mission 3: Level 2 now..

I love this game. It runs great on a Ti 1Ghz (which I have). It ran fine on a Ti 800 mhz (which I had).

My handle online is 'k2director', like it is here. I always play a medic.

For new users trying to go multiplayer. Most servers running the game are PCs, and when the PC version of the software gets an update, most servers switch immediately to it, and the updated servers can't be seen by the Mac. Usually, a Mac update comes out a few weeks later, but it's frustrating to lose so many servers, even temporarily.

Anyway, the morale of this story: if you're running an older version of Wolf, like 1.32, you won't be able to see a bunch of PC servers. Do a search on these forums or some Mac gaming forum for information about finding the updates and installing them. Some people have to jump through hoops, downloading multiple files, running an installer, dragging files into certain folders, etc. A bit of a pain....

I've been running the Cocoa beta 2 for a long time. (Around 6 months) Specifically, with low settings (custom file, home made) I could run 18-25 FPS on my old iBook 500 (O/Ced to 600). On a G4/533 Radion 32, it gets anywhere from 25-80FPS (Mostly around 50) in mid settings. It did have problems on my Dads Titainum500, but his Ti667 does OK.
