I was looking thru my dowloads folder and I found "Smac Carbon" and "Smax Carbon".

I think Brad Oliver of Westlake made these awhile ago...

Anyone ever tried them? Any good?

I can't find them on the internet anymore so I wonder if they got had to be taken down.

I've been running them for ages. They run (ran) great. I attempted to run it last night in 10.2.4 and it just bombed out. Both of them Wonder what changed recently to make it stop working. It's my favorite strategy game

Not sure but it looks like 10.2.4 doesn't like how it's drawing to screen. Might have something to do with the graphics updates it included.

Found my issue. Damn permissions. I had Read Access the whole way down. Needed Write. Get Info wouldn't change it all. Thank you chown and chmod. That's what I fet for installing a game under someone else's account. Just thought I'd post an update in case anyone else has this issue.

Unfortunately don't have an email acct to send something that big. This thread at insidemacgames notes that it's on the clanmacgaming hotline server:

http://www.insidemacgames.com/forum/...pic.php?t=8571

Might want to try there. There are a couple of hotline clients you can use. Just do a search for hotline at versiontracker.

Here's the info you'll need to hit their server once you have a client:

Actually I am a hotline vet and already did an exhaustive search of all the mac game servers I know of. Thanks a lot, I can't believe I didn't know about that server.

Have you tried running SMAC in windowed mode? That has always been a lot more stable for me, even if I haven't tried it since 10.2.4 arrived.

Was there ever a fix for the saving problem (where cmd-S causes a crash)? As much as I loved SMAC, that bug was kind of a deal breaker for me.
