Hi,
I have Jedi Knight II and would like to be able to play it withouth the CD. I only want to do this so I can play on my PowerBook with out here the CD spinning, and plus it saves the batter (also NO CDS need to be taken to LAN games, (even thou if someone takes it it wouldn't work on there PeeCee)).
I tried to mount the disk image .dmg, then when i mounted and took the CD and got into the game it asked me to insert the CD!
So in final rushed conclusion (getting back to studdying) can you play Jedi Knight II without the CD????

Not sure if this still works (it used to), but you can try creating a disk image in Disk Copy with the exact same name. Just C&P it and make that disk image as small as it can go. Not sure if that still works or not though.

Try creating a Toast disk image with Toast. That worked for Warcraft III when Disk Copy images didn't.

Okay, doesn't work.
Got Toast, made Toast image of Jedi Knight II.toast. Mounted the image, so it looks like a CDRW. And it still says insert CD into drive!

Good news - you can simply eject the CD by pressing F12 once you've launched the game.
Better news - JK2 doesn't spin up the CD once you've started it up, so the battery hit is virtually nil.

True, however this means I still need the CD with me and It asks for a CD when you change the map (if your the server (not dedicated) or a player on ther server)

I ´ve just bought the game and converted it to a .dmg image and then I used toast to mount the image as a cd. Works perfectly fine with me.
Hope it works out for you guys too

I for one welcome the day our gaming overlords create iris recognition anti-piracy measures so that I don't have to keep pointing out that threads like this blur the lines of legality enough that I can't let them continue. Maybe I should just make a perma-sticky.
