Just wondering if it runs fine... because I'm thinking of getting it... too bad no place near Grand Forks, ND sells anything about Macs... no Mac stuff to be seen anywhere here... so... if anyone can tell me if they know a place in Grand Forks, ND what sells Mac stuff and games... please let me know...

Thanks...

Yea, that was the posts that talked about it before it came out. But I guess no one bought the new version yet that came out on the 9th of this month. Thanks though for helping.

Yea... I would of got the origional version too if I can find it anywhere here. But... since the Game of the Year edition just came out on the 9th, I'll just get that instead because it does have civ edit on it.

Isn't civ edit available for download? I don't understand what I would get with the GOTY addition.

Yea... the only difference is that the edit witht he GOTY Edition is officially made from the company. The ones you can download are not, so they might not work as good or stable as the official version. Maybe the official edit as more options as well. But I guess the other thing is you get a tip book as well, and the making of CD. But really... I think the original civ III is good enough... I would of bought that already if I can find a copy around here, which I can't... so I have no choice but to get the GOTY edition.

That's completely false. The latest downloadable version is identical to the version of the editor on the GOTY CD.

Hey Brad,

With the money they make from the GOTY Edition is there any chance we will get the file formats in-line w/ the Windoze version?

Sorry, I didn't know that since I don't have the GOTY edition... besides.... I did say might... aka, not sure. But thanks for correcting though. I'm guessing you have the GOTY then? since you know for sure that its the same editor.... how does it play on the os x?

Hello,

Yea... I've check that place. I remembered last year the Super Target sells Mac games and softwares... but for some odd reason this year... they've pull it all out... they no longer sell any mac software or games... I was really pissed off about it too... now I lost my only mac connection in the Grand Forks area...

I did the Mac port, so I guess you could say that I have it. I'm not the best person to ask about performance - I think it runs fine.

Barnes & Noble (by the nazi hockey arena, naturally) used to carry Mac software as well. (At least they did as of December 2001). If you *need* to pick-up Photoshop, etc. and can't wait to order, you can grab a copy there with academic pricing. (Or just go to Hughes and use one of the Blue Dwarves; I wouldn't recommend the O'Kelly, Union or Fritz clusters as -- even tho the machines are faster -- no one takes care of them.)

What sucks is that there is no version of Play the World for the Mac... I've been having a blast on LAN play with some friends on the PC... Great stuff...

Brad - any chance that PTW will get ported?

I don't want to speculate on if it will happen. There's certainly a chance, but how much of one is really not my area.

But if it did happen, netplay would be Mac-Mac only since it uses DirectPlay on the PC side.

Hello,

I've just played the game for about 3 hours, and it plays very very nicely. ^_^ fast and smooth without any problems. It even lets you run the game in 1400 by 900 video mode, which is great for full screen. ^_^
