Well after all the recent OS updates it now runs OK (some slow downs ) on my Dual Gig, 1.5G Ram, and Geforce 4Ti.

The game still has some pretty bad bugs, you can with care get into positions where you can shoot people but they don't die, they don't respond at all unless you have followed the "path" laid out for you.

A very linear game...

First off, I can say from actual experience on my 17" PB that SoF II *does* work on every PC server I've tried if you patch your game to the newest version available (www.versiontracker.com).

Also, the game may run on your iMac, however, you'll most likely have to tone down the resolution and escp. the details/graphical settings to get it to run w/ a smooth frame rate. If you can live w/ that though, it's a BLAST to play online.

Too, you may wanna consider taking the leap to 10.2.5. These newer patches have a tendency to run much better on Jaguar (10.2) than on 10.1. Of course, 10.3 (Panther) is supposed to be unveiled in June, but that's a good bit away. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I am one of those "If it's not broke don't fix it" kind of people who gets paranoid over the horror storys from people who recently updates. Which is why I am still on 10.1.4, hehe.

Thing is, my iMac runs GREAT, No program crashes, no kernel panics, ever, great uptimes.
Which is why I would much rather stay on 10.1.4 (but I am willing to update to 10.1.5)

What resolution would if have to be, I would like to have an idea of how much crappyer I would need to make the graphics. (Can't be much worse then the old quake 1 graphics I still play from time to time when I am bored, heheh )

You really should upgrade to Mac OS X 10.2, especially 10.2.5. It has many OpenGL optimizations. You *will* feel a performance increase. And then get more RAM. You probably have a single 256 MB chip, so get a 512 chip to make the total 768 MB. RAM is cheap, buy as much as you can now.

Then when you get the game (after getting the RAM and upgrading to OS X 10.2.5, of course ) make sure you download the latest version. And then in the settings set the graphics and textures down.

EDIT: Oh, and for resolutions, plan on 640x480, the lowest your iMac's LCD can support.

So let's put it this way: SOFII is one of the worst ports, right on par with SimCity 3000.

I agree with absolutely everything stated here...couldn't have said it better myself. An update to 10.2.5 would certainly do you good, as well as the RAM boost.
