Dammit! I've played Deus Ex four times through for now. I love this game. Since there is no game that could match up currently, what do you find entertaining, fellow DX fans? It should run on an iBook with 16 MB Rage mobility, I don't have too much demand for super-hi-rez-grafx...

I've been playing No One Lives Forever. It doesn't have the RPG features of Deus Ex (experience points and mods), but it does let the player choose their game play. Before each mission you choose your equipment, basically letting you decide if you're going to use the stealth approach or shoot everything in sight. Well, except on two levels where you HAVE to use stealth. Also, the AI is somewhat better than in Deus Ex - for example, guards NEVER ignore dead bodies. It also has a great sense of humor - half the fun of the game is sneaking up on bad guys and listening to them complain about the lousy pay, or how the evil organization they used to run for was run by shmucks, and so on.

I played it on my "Beige" G3/500 with the a Rage 128 on "fastest" settings, and it was quite playable. I'm really look forward to the sequel.

We mostly play Ghost Recon in multi player. You get to choose your kit etc and it requires thought to complete the missions.

But it is not Deus Ex

agreed ... Ghost Recon is totally awesome, and inmersive, but it's definetly not DX ...
I just miss a lot all the options you hadper map .. the hacker approach and all ... to earn skill point so you could snipe someone from a mile ... plain awesome ...

also how every little thing you did changes something ...
or how you could do sub-objectives like murder some drug dealer, stuff like that ...
how you could find stuff, as in Hong-Kong where you could swim to the collapsed tunnel and have a nano-aug cannister ... exceptional gameplay

Metal Gear Solid 2 was the closest thing I play on my PS2. I plan to try out Splinter Cell this weekend. I agree with you all that Dues Ex is on its own as a 'classic' though.

P.S. Ghost Recon is GREAT too. Gotta love Tom Clancy. I'm praying we get Raven Shield.

Any chance someone will port Deus Ex to Mac OS X?

No.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

No such luck I'm afraid. Westlake didn't finish the port of UT, and Deus Ex uses the same engine as UT, with a few tweaks maybe.

I still boot to 9 to play Deus Ex. It's unforunate that it can't be ported to OS X, but I can understand the decision. At least Deus Ex 2 will be coming out on the PC soon, so hopefully we can have a Mac port ready by this years end.

I was a huge deus ex fan and I've been playing Splinter Cell for the past few weeks on my gamecube... fantastic game... maybe it'll be ported to Mac one day... not that I'd buy it again but so all the mac gamers could give it a go.

Try Max Payne, not so clever but great fun!

Been playing Ghost Recon for a while now, and added the War of Infamy mod, which I've played some.
