Well can it be done? I hate how the system requirements to not emphasise at all that there is a video resolution requirement, but when i try and play the game (post installation mind you) It allows you to only select resolutions of 1024x768 or above.

Its a pain in the ass as whilst i can play the game on my fp imac, i really got it to play on my ibook when im on the road, and I cant it seems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a text pref file that stores all your settings? Many games have one... search your Civ3 folder. You might be able to force it to 800x600 (I have no Civ3 experience, tried a friend's copy and it really did nothing for me).

Also, if you run your iBook in OS 9, you might want to try this truly awesome piece of software: Virtual Desktop

Basically, you can run your iBook in "simulated" 1024x768, meaning it actually runs at 800x600 but puts scroll bars on the side of the screen so your actual working space is 1024x768. Not sure if it works in games, but heck, why not try?

Hope that helps.
Be happy.

No, it's not possible. The interface artwork has a minimum size of 1024x768, so even if you could force it to run in a smaller resolution, you wouldn't be able to see many parts of the interface.

Nuts, its a shame they didnt keep us ibook users in mind.

The game would have run fine at 800x600, and a g3 366mhz with an 8mb ati rage 128 would have been an ok spec for it.

Now I have to consider selling my indigo ibook AND my fp imac and consider buying a new 14 inch ibook......
