I'm hoping to buy either a Powerbook (15", 1 GHz, 640MB RAM) or an iBook (14", 900 MHz 512MB RAM) sometime in the next few months. I don't plan on playing a lot of games on it, but I would like to play Jedi Knight II (and, hopefully, the upcoming sequel if it gets ported from the PC).

Has anyone tried playing JKII on either machines? What hardware were you running?

What sort of performance can I expect with newer and upcoming FPS games in general on these machines? Like I said, games are secondary, but the option of playing them if I wanted to would be nice.

CPU wise you are OK. But hte graphic card of the iBook will be a bit short. You might have to take the resolution and details down. Shouldn't be a problem on the Powerbook though.

gaming on the mac is def slow. on my dual 867, i get only OK game performance. i would think that ibooks/powerbooks run even slower. just turn the res and some options down, and im sure youll be ok.

I have Jedi Knight 2 on my PB (same as yours except 768mb ram) and it runs great. I run it at near highest on all settings and its awesome.
