I am trying to get Quake II with Action Quake mods to run in OSX on my pb17...my brother burned his whole quake folder onto a cd and when i copied it to my hd and tried to run it it bombs during the launch. It seems like it could be having probs with the resolution because as it is trying to launch it changes res and then unexpectedly quits. I have the same files he is running on his new ibook and we have the osx patch, so I can't see why it wouldn't work...any ideas? Thanks!

If you're sure you've applied the OS X patch correctly, you may have some corrupt files on the disc from a bad burn. Tell him to try re-burning, and make sure he's giving you all the files in the places they should be.

He is able to run straight off the disc which is wierd, but maybe his comp is using the software that is installed anyway. Corrupt files due to a bad burn were my initial thought too. We'll retry the burn and see if it works!! =)

Argh, well let's see...delete anything dealing with Quake II from your hard drive, and update to OS X 10.2.6. After that give it a shot again...maybe have your brother install it from scratch just in case you're doing one thing wrong. When I installed Quake III (OS 9 game when it was made) I installed the patch FIRST, and simply didn't install the game; rather, I inserted the CD & pulled the .paks from the disc into the patch folder I created when I installed the patch...maybe that's what you're not doing? Let us know what turns out, good luck!
