I have no clue how to access the unreal.ini file on the a mac (all I can see is the unreal launch program icon I put in the applications folder), or is there a console command for this?

Well, Mac OS X comes with this nifty feature where you can run a search for files on your harddrive So if you do a search for UT2003.ini you should be able to find the location. Now if your mouse reflexes are faster than dealing with the search stuff you can find the UT2003.ini file here:

~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo

It should be in side System. If you run the benchmark scripts the results will be stored in Benchmark. I mentioned how in a different thread.

To change the resolution locate the SDL rendering section and modify the appropriate vars:

[SDLDrv.SDLClient]
WindowedViewportX=640
WindowedViewportY=480
FullscreenViewportX=1280
FullscreenViewportY=854

In some games, while you're in the game, such as in a level, if you hit the tidle key (to the left of the "1" key, it looks like this: "~" it'll bring down the console, and if you can access that, try typing this in:

/set r_customwidth 1440
/set r_customheight 900
/set r_mode -1
/vid_restart

You may need to restart the game afterwards, but give it a shot!

Just to be more specific that will only work in Quake 3 Engine games...

I tried this method and it worked beautifully. I scaled it out to 1920x1200 for my Cinema Display.

Looks great!

Is this true: After you scale it to a diff res than it came with, you can no longer play against windows users?

Eh? I think you (or whoever told you that) misinterpreted what Mr. Gordon said in his .plan. What he said was that in order to add the additional screen resolutions to the UT2K3 demo GUI, he would have had to add some additional Unreal Scripting code. But the game servers do some checks to make sure clients are using the same versions of the modules to scan for hacked ones. The check probably does a checksum of the sizes of the modules. If they're different than what the server is using, then it's probably hacked. Since the PC and Linux demos came out long before the Mac version did, whichever modules hold the screen resolutions don't contain the 'Mac' screen reses. If he added those, the modules would be bigger than the PC and Linux ones and would fail the checksum, thus breaking compatibility.

Isn't that exactly what I said? It won't work with windows users... right?!
