I thought the Uplink port was being published by Ambrosia... but no mention in the MacUpdate page or the game itself
See it for yourself:
Upcoming titles from Ambrosia
Anyway, the game is quite cool... Or should I say "c001"?
Edit: As they say here the demo is not published by Ambrosia itself, but the full shareware game will be.

Damn! I was happily playing the game, doing very well when a message comes up -
"Uplink corporation ahas detected that you are still using the Demo Client, and that you have reached the highest attainable Uplink rating for a demo user." and so on. I now have to wait until the 27th (?) until it is released, boo!

Haha, exactly! A clever and good way of getting people to buy the game.
I'll be behind you in the line to buy the game. To other people: no cutting in the line please!

There must be a way to hack the Introversion servers and download the full copy (after transfering the $$$ to the Introversion bank account of course) ... damn it I need a better Gateway!

Its obvious what we do, we bounce our connection around numerous servers, including the social security and education servers, then we launch the password breaker and activate our tracker. Then when we have their server password we use the file copier to copy the file to our memory banks then disconnect. Hey presto, we have the game!

Definitely a cool concept for a game and helluva time drain. I was "online" for an hour last night without even realizing it!
Cheers.

crack the password, login, search for the specified name, then just click in the correct section and type it in. Worked for me

You did commit the changes, and type them in in exactly the correct format (see some other records for examples), right?

I'm also getting a strange behavior attempting to edit files in the Academic Database.
After entering the name, the game flips through every person in the database at lightning speed, ending at last at yourself.
It's impossible to commit any changes at all.
I thought it was a bug, but apparently it's just w/ my confguration (iBook 500 / 384 MB / 10.2.6)...?
Anyone else encounter this?
Love the game, by the way. Utterly absorbing.

Oh never mind. A dumb mistake on my part: I forgot to erase "Enter the name here:" text before typing in the person's name to search for. Finally figured out. Duh.
Incidentally, I wish just a nice double-click would select the text, like your standard OS X app. Especially as an active trace is speeding toward you at high velocity.

Tried the game and I'm completely hooked too. Even gave a shot at the pc version using VPC 5.04. Playable but too slow to have the same feeling, too bad... Hope the game is not delayed.

Anyone tried the beta and enabled multi monitor? It is great at 1600x1200 but 3200x1600 will be even better!

In the demo, I cannot enable multi monitor. I can't wait to try this feature out soon!

Will be a great game to have up in the office. Boss walks in on you, thinking you're actually hacking into some company, stealing dough, and freaks out.
Trying out the demo now after I download it. Just hope you don't have to be an actual hacker, or intense programmer to know how to play this thing.
