I have a G4TiBook running 10.2.6 and have downloaded the 131 MB UT2003, allowed Stuffit expander to expand it, and then mounted the disk image by double clicking.

I can do absolutely nothing with the resultant mounted disk image (little white icon looks like a separate drive and has the words "Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo" on it. When I doubleclick on it, all the icons on the desktop temporarily disappear, then reappear, not program file becomes visible and no program starts up. What am I missing here?

Sorry, my bad typing made things more confusing.

I can download the UT2003, and get the file ut2003-macosx-demo-2206.dmg onto my desktop

I can click on that, causing diskcopy to run, and successfully mount "Unreal tournament 2003 demo" on my desktop. The resultant icon looks like a little white zip drive or something.

Doubleclicking that icon causes all the desktop icons to disappear transiently, then reappear, but no program opens and no folder with the Unreal applicatioin appears.

This is a TiBook running 10.2.6. I recently had a replacement hard drive put in, courtesy of AppleCare, and all the system and application software was reinstalled cleanly in the last few weeks.

What should I do. I would like to try the demo...

I had the exact same problem. You got a corrupted file. Go d/l it again.

Hi--
I had to download a second time and then slightly modify the name of the .dmg file.

Somehow with the second download it was automatically named something that ended .dmg-2.

The Mac had no idea what to do with something like that, so I got rid of the "-2" and then it was openable and the game played reasonably well.
