This has been covered a bunch of teams in several forums including this one. Have you tried heading over to blizzard's site?

Head over to Blizzard's site and download the appropriate patch (get the Expansion patch if you have the Expansion pack, very important).

http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mdt0387p

Warning, do NOT use 3d hardware acceleration (OpenGL) in OS X with the current version of Diablo II. The performance sucks. Once 1.10 is released, then OpenGL will hopefully be useable.

Yea... I got the carbon version, but I can't stand playing this game in bnet with only 5 fps. Look like i'll have to wait until 1.10 comes out..

D2 for OS X must be run in Software mode to get decent performance, regardless of your video hardware. Blizzard hopefully will fix this in 1.10.
Be happy.

I just bought D2 and I don't have OS 9 on my Mac. I can't install it cuz I don't have the CDs. Any ideas how to install?

Some of my roomies ran into that problem when they trashed the OS 9 System folder on their Macs. Heres what to do.

1) Keep a stripped down OS 9 System folder around for times like these. Mine is only 218 MB. It comes in handy now and than.

2) If you have another computer around with 9 on it, just copy over the game folder. Or find someone with Diablo II, and have them burn the game folder onto a CD.

3) Don't play the game, spend your time complaining about how stuff doesn't install or work in OS 10 on forums before doing any actual research or trying to find patches form the company's webpage. (Note the sarcasm)

That basically covers it.

ummm.... maybe it's just me, but isn't a post in forum the smarter way to research? You can spend 10 hours reading articles and sites that wind up having no relevance and downloading and installing crap and not get a fix...

post your problem and let people with relevant information help you out... like a community..

duh

These forums have a search feature which allow you to do 'research' within the forums to see if topics have been covered before.

well there is no solution to this problem if you don't have os9.

so searching the forum won't help.

Actually, searching the forum would have revealed that answer. So how can you say a search wouldn't help?
