Hey everyone - I'm a recent switcher and just picked up Dungeon Seige and set it at top resolution (1024x768) but it won't display full screen on my 17" powerbook. I know in PC games i can adjust the monitor setting so that a game takes up the full screen even if the resolution is lower than I had set on my monitor. Is there any way to do this on a Mac (or more specifially, on the powerbook)?
Thanks for any help....

The simplest way to do this is to set your 17" Powerbook display to match the resolution of the game. It won't be as pretty but it will fill your display.
You can do this in your System Preferences under Displays. I check the box to Show Displays on the menu bar for easier access to the different resolutions.

tried this and it didn't work - the desktop resolution changed (though it would only be full screen if I used the "stretched" option; but in game it didn't take up the full screen no matter what the desktop resolution was set at...

Is Dungeon Siege an old classic game? Newer games should be able to cope with that.

First off, 1024x768 and 1440x900 are different ratios, so it would be stretched. Second, LCDs don't stretch to fit nearly as well as CRTs. They generally have one good resolution, and everything else is ugly.

Edit the Dungeon Siege config file so that it runs at a resolution that fills the screen on your Powerbook (something not stretched; meaning -- actually widescreen).
I'm assuming, though, that DS for Mac has a config text file like the PC version; search the DS folder as well as your ~/library/preferences folder ("~" denotes your "home" folder).

Be happy.
