My brother insists that the mouse "feels" better when playing games on a PC. In windows, he likes the acceleration set to "None" and the speed turned all the way up. Is there anyway to mimic the exact movements and accelleration of windows mouse settings on a mac?
I've tried using UBS overdrive, and it's not quite right. Maybe there's some settings I'm missing. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon

That Windows mouse feel is gross. It's like getting your prostate checked.

In all sorts of games or just in 1st person shooters? Because I loathe the Windows mouse in desktop apps and startegy games (both RTS and turnbased - I'm decent at Starcraft on a Mac, but I get creamed on Windows) but there is something to say for it in 1st person shooters. Those usually access the HID manager directly, however, so the exact "feel" of the mouse depends on the game and its settings, and there is nothing USB overdrive can do about it.

As for Desktop apps and strategy games (and any other game where you have a real pointer): get used to it. It is, by and large, a superior way to navigate.

I've been looking for a way to turn mouse acceleration off completely as well. i didn't mind it at all until i started playing counter-strike a lot. when i use my mac for everything else, i always move my mouse past whatever i'm aiming for. i really wish it was off.

Actually, not true. Most of the games actually don't use HID for mouse control. Mouse control via HID was only recently added, I believe in 10.2, so many of the games released last year, and probably a few this year, don't use HID Manager for mouse control so USB Overdrive can affect the games. I use it myself to fix mouse issues with SoF II and a few other games.

if you buy a graphics tablet that comes with a mouse, there is a setting that allows you to use "linear" acceleratioin. which means none at all. that is the only solution so far.
