The world no longer need be conquered by armed warriors brandishing guns. Connected to the world's matrix of computer networks via a fragile electronic tether, those with the knowledge and skill to manipulate critical computer systems are the new warriors, armed with weapons of their own.
Welcome to the world of the cyber-hacking game Uplink.
An enigma in itself, Uplink is akin to a more cerebral incarnation of Ambrosia's popular Escape Velocity series of games, with missions that interweave a threaded plot which is unveiled with each conquest. Only this time, you have only your intellect, hacking skills, and the computer systems you've compromised to aid you.

...or get right down to it and download Uplink now from here: http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/uplink/

Our web site should be able to handle credit cards of any origin. We have people from a number of countries purchasing through the store.
Perhaps you didn't enter the credit card number and/or security code correctly? Any more information you can provide us will help.
What error message did you get?

Heck they accept Icelandic creditcards. I'd say they accept most.

No, I have a solo card. Your site doesn't accept them or switch.

Considering that solo and switch do not use the same auth mechanism as credit cards this is not surprising...

Damn Uplink... last night I watched as the clock ticked on until 3am all the while thinking "I've got to meet a client at 9am".
Oh just a word of advice... it really is better to use a credit card online, you are unlikely to have any consumer protection if you use solo or switch. Those mechanisms are usually for access to one's current account and I don't know about you but I'm not interested in my cash being stolen and having no recourse.

Who ever said it was surprising? Unfortunately some of us are too young to get credit cards, but you can have a Solo from 13+ (partly due to the fact that it's a debit card). Pretty cool that Introversion accepts it, I might have to buy

Well my appologies, I didn't realise that you couldn't get a CC... but hey
On another point, darn Uplink is addictive. Twice now I've got myself quite far only to **** up a bank raid and end up deleted! There goes 8 hours in 2 days!

Well, I tried to play. But every time I double click the Uplink file, it says the 'Reg too failed to initialize. Uplink will now quit.'
Any thoughts?

I know the feeling... I must have accidentally directly connected to a bank thinking I was going from inside another network and messing around with the admin authorization got me deleted from Uplink as well...
Is it just me or does "ESC" not work for flipping quickly out of the game?

I want to try it, but I have an iBook G3 300 with no OpenGL supported card. Will it run on that machine?. Will it run at least acceptably slooow?. i am on a modem connection and I don't want to make a huge (for me) download just to discover I cannot play the game.
Tanks.

It works pretty good; certainly very playable. Bit of a pain that you have to hold-release buttons instead of clicking.

What problem are you having downloading it?
BTW, for tech support questions/problems, you'd be best off posting them on our "Help on the way" web board, or emailing: help@AmbrosiaSW.com

I got it now. I'm guessing too many people were trying to download it when I tried. All is well

This is one of the better conceived games I have seen, although I had some problems: The initial learning curve was VERY steep, the market allowed you to buy stuff you couldn't use (like a 20 Gqd processor "upgrade", a proxy_bypasser before you had the HUD display, things you already own, etc), and a small mistake could land you in an impossible situation (like for example if you had performed all but one novice mission, and on the last one you mistakenly deleted a file instead of copying it, you had to abandon the mission which would drop your rating to beginner with no way to redeem yourself since all beginner and novice missions were gone). It is also difficult to get out of the UI if you need to temporarily get back to your Mac.
It is a really exciting concept, but as I said it has a steep entry curve.
