I receieved my copy of Spyhunter in the mail yesterday. I've played several levels and there are several things to be desired

1) Stability-the game crashes frequently and randomly, most often at the start of the level or during the middle of gameplay.

2) Controls-you can't use the mouse to steer the car nor fire any weapons, and running the game strictly from the keyboard is awkward at best. USB overdrive won't recognize spyhunter as an application so I can't set any specific keyboard controls either.

3) Gameplay - gameplay is ok, but mostly hinges on your ability to memorize where everything is on each level. Granted knowing the level is important for any game, but it seems to be too much a part of Spyhunter. There isn't much chance to explore where things are other than to play the level several times to learn where everything is.

Other thoughts?

Well, on #3 - its exactly like the arcade one I like it for some mind-numbing fun.

As for #1 - it rarely happens for me, but usually only after I set some settings. This coud be better.

#2 could've been a lot better, but its not bad with a pad.

3D remakes of 2D games are *always* bad.

I thougth the remake of Centipede rocked. In addition to solid gameplay, it had some subtle yet witty level names.

Anyone one use a wheel with this game? I haven't used a wheel since back in my 8100/110 days. I remember seeing one recently for Mac. I'm wondering if it's more fun with the wheel.

Not so: Lode Runner II, in 3d, is gorgeous and a blast to play.

Hmmmm... maybe it's time to get it out again.
