Hi all,
A friend of mine's been beta-testing EQ on the Mac. We tried it on my 17" and it looks and sounds VERY GOOD. It's not perfect, but even the PC version suffers from stuttering and such. I have a 2.53GHz P4 and an ATI Radeon 9700 in my PC and EQ still has trouble in very crowded areas. I have to say that I'm very impressed with how EQ looks on the Mac. It doesn't look like a bad port. They seem to have taken the textures and 3D info, bit-for-bit, and made it work on the Mac. The .wav and .mp3 sounds are, of course, the same, and the town's background music, dont with MIDI SoundFonts on the PC, sound very close to the PC versions on the Mac. There are still some NPC pathing issues and such, but the quests he was playing with last night were working, as was combat and tradeskills. On the 17" it looks just beautiful. I can't imagine what it would look like on a 23" Cinema Display.

Mike
